January 2005

La Fraternidad: In December 3M provided the material resources for the church pastored by Mario Jordan to have a vacation bible school. Mario reports that seventy-five children from the village attended the five day VBS. For many of the children it was the first time they had ever heard anything about Jesus Christ. 3M gave a bicycle to Mario in December also. The bicycle will significantly increase his ability to minister in the jungle village. Mario and his wife, Cristina, live in a two room cinder block house. They have no car, refrigerator, or many other things that we consider necessities. They do have an earnest desire to share Jesus Christ in their village and beyond. 3M is helping them make a difference for Jesus in La Fraternidad.

Las Nubes: Recently Guillermo was asked, "how many people are attending Las Nubes Christian Church at the Sunday afternoon service". He said about thirteen adults and "many, many, many children". On a normal Sunday "many" is about thirty. Sunday, December 26, was anything but normal, there were about eighty-five people in attendance. David and Guillermo performed their second wedding ceremony at the mountain village. After the wedding Misha, and Meghan

passed out about fifty blankets that were donated by Heartland Church. Las Nubes is a mountain village and the temperature drops well below freezing in December and January. The blankets warmed the hearts as well as their bodies. Kathy distributed seventy toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste that were donated to those who came to the wedding. A Dell desktop computer was also donated to the mission and put into operation in early December. Guillermo has loaded several programs in Spanish onto to computer. It is truly amazing how first world technology is helping to bring the gospel to the third world in Guatemala.

Xela Community Church: Several Americans who teach at a school in Xela have become more involved at XCC recently and are providing a much needed "western influence". Praise God!
