February 2005
Xela Community Church: Blanquita is about twenty-five years old and she has
a two year old daughter, Maria. When Blanquita was an infant her mother
murdered her father and was put into prison. Since then Blanquita's life has
been a series of government orphanages and, "the street". She can read, but
her education is limited. The only skill she has is how to mop and use a
broom. Blanquita has been attending XCC for about six months since being
invited by a woman she met on the street. Last week David and Guillermo were
talking with her and she invited Jesus Christ into her heart. Praise the
Lord! Although she is a new creation in Christ, she has a lot to overcome.
Maya-Mesoamerica Mission is going to help Blanquita get started in her own
business. She wants to sell sandwiches as a street vendor at the large
outdoor market in Xela.
"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Enter, you who are blessed
by my Father! Take what's coming to you in this kingdom. It's been ready for
you since the world's foundation. And here's why: I was hungry and you fed
me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a
room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to
visit, I was in prison and you came to me.' "Then those 'sheep' are going to
say, 'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry
and feed you, thirsty and give
|
you a drink? And when did we ever see
you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling
the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked
or ignored, that was me--you did it to me.'
(Matthew 25:34-40 MSG)
Your partnership with 3M is making a difference for "the kingdom".
Las Nubes: Key to the success of the 3M mission is for nationals to reach
out in ministry. We are excited to see Iglesia Cristiana Las Nubes go from a
vision to the model of ministry. Recently during a walk through Las Nubes
person after person called out, "hola pastor Guillermo, hola!". Guillermo is
rapidly being recognized as a leader in the community with an authentic
concern for their spiritual and physical well-being. On January 30, Roberto,
Guillermo's brother, helped with the Las Nubes service. Roberto has
mentioned that he senses God telling him to be more bold in sharing the
"good news" of Jesus Christ. He is like most Christians, we just don't do
it. Pray with us that he will be obedient to our Lord's prompting; Do not
quench the Spirit.
(1 Thessalonians 5:19 MKJV)
Xolcaja: Eleven months ago we expressed to the people in the village of
Xolcaja our desire to help them build a Christian Life Center/School. On
February 27, Heartland Church in Missouri will be hosting a silent auction
and dinner with the proceeds dedicated to further this outreach. Xolcaja is
about two hours from Xela by car. It is a small rural village in the jungle.
