Xolcaja Christian Church
In
February, 2004, MMM was asked to help provide supplies for the children at
the Xolcaja public school. We did give them many supplies that February,
and we also shared with them the “good news” of new life in Jesus Christ.
MMM has continued to build on that relationship. In 2005 we purchased land
for a new school which we donated to the community. In 2006 MMM Guatemalan
national missionaries were invited by the local school committee to conduct
regular bible classes as part of the curriculum for all of the children in
the local public school. We held the first Sunday service of Iglesia
Cristiana Xolcaja on July 2, 2006. Xolcaja is about a two hour drive
from Quetzaltenango, located in the lowland jungle near the Pacific. The
“heart language” of the people in the village of Xolcaja is the Mayan Indian
dialect, Quiche (key-chay). All of the church services and school bible
classes are translated from Spanish to Quiche.
